  • Shin Min Ah and Kim Young Dae heat up the screen in new romantic comedy "No Gain No Love" premiering tonight!

After two years away from the small screen, top actress Shin Min Ah is back with a new romantic comedy, No Gain No Love ! We preview this highly-anticipated comeback which will be airing tonight! After an amazing performance in Our Blues , Shin Min Ah is back again to play one of her favorite roles, in rom-com dramas! No Gain No Love is an upcoming romantic K-Drama that tells the story of two individuals who get into a marriage of convenience. Let's check out the trailer below! Now in terms of the plot for this new drama, I found it really interesting mainly as the show follows Son Hae Young, a woman determined never to lose money, who faces the possibility of missing a promotion at work. To avoid this, she hatches a plan for a fake wedding and enlists Kim Ji Wook ( Kim Young Dae Perfect Family 2024), a part-time convenience store cashier, to pose as her fiancé. Being kind and helpful, Kim Ji Wook can not say no to anyone and ends up agreeing to the plan to not get into trouble with Son Hae Young. This leads to a humorous and heart-warming story about unexpected connections and personal growth. Let's check out the cast! What K-drama would be complete without an all-star cast?! For this series, No Gain No Love stars consisted of Shin Min Ah as Son Hae-yeong and Kim Young Dae as Kim Ji Wook. Lee Sang Yi ( My Demon 2023-2024) stars as Bok Gyu Hyeon, a business owner who does not believe in love, and Han Ji Hyun ( Cheer Up 2023) as Nam Ja Yeon, who is a popular web novel writer. Of course, these headline stars, could not take on the show alone, and unlike other K-dreams recently, the supporting cast includes Jeon Hye Won ( My Dearest 2023) as Kwon Yi Rin, an HR employee at Son Hae Young’s company; Lee You Jin as Yeo Ha Jun, Bok Gyu Hyeon’s secretary; and Joo Min Kyung as Cha Hee Sung, Son Hae Young’s friend. No Gain No Love is all set to premiere on tvN in South Korea on August 26th, 2024 , at 20:50 KST. The show will have its international release on the same day on Amazon Prime Video. • Jay Park is set to host SBS’s new idol audition program “Universe League”! We have all the details!

Legendary K-pop superstar, Jay Park , is set to host SBS’s new idol audition program Universe League ! Read on to find out more about this exciting new show! During the past four years that I have spent in Korea, Jay Park has been a household name, and he has appeared at any festivals during the time I have spent here in Korea. When I heard that he was set to host this new show, I was really excited! Coming from the UK, I have grown up with similar programs, such as Pop Idol and X Factor . They have been and are very entertaining to watch, which has led to me feeling really excited about this show! In Universe League , Jay Park will act as the link between the contestants and the viewers, guiding the show as a presenter. As part of this role, he will closely observe the intense competition and the growth of the participants, narrating their journey throughout the program. This is a great way for him to get to know the contestants, and I am sure he will already have an idea of what the judges are expecting as he has been in a similar boat himself before having worked in the industry for a number of years. If you did not already know, Jay Park is an all-around musician recognized for his outstanding skills in hip hop, producing, and dance. Last year, he showcased his hosting abilities on The Seasons: Jay Park’s Drive . He plans to bring his skilled and witty hosting to Universe League . Universe League is the second season and male version of Universe Ticket —the audition program that recently gave rise to the new girl group UNIS . Universe League will feature a different format from the first season, which I think is great to spice up the show and keep it interesting for viewers. Let's check out the trailer! Although the trailer does not give much away, I think that it highlights the contestants really need to have the entire package, that being a great vocal range, charisma, style and dance ability. Of course, a great thing about this type of show is that the contestants, usually get a leg up, by getting a full makeover, and lessons in vocals and dance which will only help them compete, and rightly so make the show more interesting for the viewers. The upcoming season will showcase a league of teams battling against each other, with the final winning team securing the “Prism Cup” and earning the opportunity to debut, sounds great right?! Now, three representative K-pop artists will serve as coaches for each team, selecting members and competing against one another. The artists who will serve as the coaches will be revealed at a later date, similar to that on the UK and US shows for that matter. I wonder who the guests will be?! Will you be tuning in to watch this new talent show? Let us know in the comments below!

  • MEOVV’s New Member GAWON Gains Attention For Her Unreal Visuals and Classy Stage Presence!

Gawon has been confirmed as the newest member of MEOVV (along with Sooin), and she reveals snippets about herself. Here is why we think she has been so popular among fans! Gawon in the past has trained with members of the K-pop (replacement of BLACKPINK ) BABYMONSTER , and fans of Gawon in the past have been following her as Chloe Lee which I have to say is a name that I prefer, though the idol has used her original Korean name for her current stage name. Let's check out one of the new teaser posters! Gawon expressed her emotional talents and style with a unique concept, and I have to say that I think the visuals were very elegant to what I had imagined! Let's also take a look at her debut video! T hroughout the video, Gawon showcased her classy and elegant image, however, the amount of jewels she wore looked a little "Chavy" as we would say in the UK. Meaning it looks a little bit cheap and not as cool as the concept may have thought. When the fast-paced beats and high heel stride came into play, I feel that Gawon gained some swag and confidence which is not only sexy but also captivating for her fans to watch. The end soundtrack sounded similar to something that I would have expected to hear in a horror movie. Nevertheless the vibe and sound of her teaser were both great. As the scene moved on and Gawon changed outfit, netizens saw the idol’s unreal proportions and height as she walked in some unconventional footwear, just like a model. When the video was posted, as fans have already been following Gawon for some time, they shared some information about her, including her age, where she’s from, her unreal height, and the fact she was a former YG Entertainment trainee, talk about keeping it in-house! This is also where she trained with some members of the new K-pop group BABYMONSTER when she was a trainee! Let us know your thoughts on the new member in the comments below! #MEOVV #debut #GAWON

  • Jo Jung-Suk's "Pilot" is a controversial gender drama, but why has it been successful?

Jo Jung Suk has recently appeared in a new K-Drama movie Pilot which is a controversial gender drama. With Korea being so conservative with regards to gender and sexuality why has this drama been so successful? We dive into why this movie has the whole country watching! Actor Jo Jung Suk who stars in this controversial drama actually went through great lengths in order to get cast for the role in the comedy. The star lost 7kg to fit the casting call for the main character, for me this screams dedication! The movie itself shows the main character portraying a male character in disguise as a woman, for me, this was shocking considering how conservative Korea is with gender and sexuality. Pilot follows the story of Han Jung Woo, played by Jo, a once-celebrated pilot who loses his job due to a mistake, leading to a series of personal and professional setbacks, including a divorce and ruined reemployment attempts. The drama which aired on July 31st has gained a lot of views already and rightly so, with Korea changing as a nation and becoming more open-minded, I think that this drama was released at a key time, and the over 1 million views already show that people are interested in this topic. Let's check out one of the trailer! The trailer showcased a good portion of what I would expect to see in a comedy, and the outfits actually showed the star really well as a female character and likewise as a male character. It's also funny and engages me, especially the airport scenes. IMDB have also mentioned: Jung Woo goes from being a successful, popular pilot to being unemployed one morning. However, he succeeds in getting a new job after accidentally taking on a newly laundered identity. This has also caused a controversial opinion, as many people believe strongly that portraying a woman or male for that matter is wrong, and shouldn't be done. I think with many transgender athletes, stars, and people in society now, it is an important topic to be brought up. Han Jung Woo, who, after getting fired from his job and divorced by his wife, is now searching for a new job. Out of desperation, he disguises himself as a woman to get a position at Han Air, a company seeking a female pilot. I found this funny, that the plot was based around an airline, however, since I love to travel I found it even more interesting! Let us know your thoughts on this new controversial drama in the comments below. #ChoJungSeok #JoJungSuk #pilot #koreanmovie #moviereview #socialissue #genderandsexuality

  • [Breaking news] Why did BTS's Suga fail to appear at Yongsan Police Station? And leaving hundreds of reporters waiting!

BTS's Suga failed to appear at Yongsan Police Station after his DUI incident , leaving hundreds of global reporters waiting. What happened and what will happen to Suga? We have all the details! There was confusion on August 22 when it was reported that BTS member Suga , who is under investigation for drunk driving on an E-scooter was supposed to attend his first police questioning. However, this turned out to be false, leading to chaos on the scene from global media reporters. Of course, this event caused fans to take to social media as well as media outlets reporting on the incident and no-show of the BTS star. The police initially planned for this questioning to be private, which I agree with, as it is a matter between them and the suspect. News about Suga’s appearance leaked late last night, causing a large number of reporters to gather at the scene early in the morning. This investigation, of course, has reached global interest due to the star's success. I also believe that it does bring a more key concern for those who ride e-scooters while drinking, which can of course lead to accidents and very dangerous situations, which the public should be cautious of. One of the key questions was whether Suga would have to face the media at a photo line. A police official mentioned that the process would follow the same rules as for any other suspect. However, since Yongsan Police Station doesn’t have an underground parking lot and its entrance is narrow, it seemed likely that Suga would have to pass by the reporters on his way to the station for the meeting with the police. Any photo of the star during this time would have achieved a lot of money for the press. Let us know your thoughts on this topic in the comments below. #Suga #ScooterScandal #DUI #drunkdriving

  • Are you being brainwashed by K-beauty? We uncover the truth!

With millions of people using Korean beauty products around the world, some have been left with the question: Are you being brainwashed by K-beauty? Dojeon Media team member and social media influencer, Lewis, uncovers the truth about K-beauty products, companies, and users! With many K-idols and ordinary citizens for that matter trying to achieve the all perfect white skin, slim figure or muscle build for a body profile shoot, even down to the big sparkling eyes and shiny skin, Korean beauty products have left some wondering if it has led consumers to feel brainwashed, mainly because of the influence of some of these products in the entertainment industry. For myself, coming from the UK, I am mostly used to seeing women wear make up, however I was surprised when I first arrived in Korea at the amount of men who also wore make up! At first, I thought perhaps it was down to sexuality, however I realized later that it was normal for men and women to wear make up here. This of course, comes from Korean idols’ stunning appearances have led to K-pop dominating the international entertainment industry. In fact, South Korea’s global cultural influence ranking jumped from 31st in 2017 to seventh in 2022, driving tourism as well as industries such as cosmetics, and in 2024 the number has risen even more. An underlying factor of South Korea’s increased global interest is the country’s unique emphasis on physical appearance, which also comes down to plastic surgery and other procedures that are supposed to "show off" the perfect appearance. I heard that it is normal even for some grandparents to purchase plastic surgery vouchers for their grandchildren's graduation ceremony gifts, which just sounds crazy! That would be like my grandparents telling me that I am not handsome and need to get some work done. Due to attractiveness still being considered a priority, K-beauty can harm your conception of what a beautiful person is. Your eyes are trained to believe true beauty exists only in the K-pop world. Though this applies to social media entirely, it impacts K-beauty the most because K-pop idols often go to extreme, unhealthy lengths to fit these intense standards. Also some job applications will select successful applicants on their level of beauty and appearance, which has led to many Koreans getting plastic surgery! Which, in turn, is also why Korea has become the worlds number one place to get plastic surgery. This for me does make it sound like big companies and the entertainment industry are brainwashing consumers into getting work done and purchasing beauty products. Korea, does not have many natural resources, so the big push of K-culture can help Korea to become influential in the international market, and with that comes K-beauty products. In the UK there are also many K-beauty products on the shelves of stores and it has been believed that due to the incredible ingredients in some of these products it makes them competitive against famous bigger brands. I also, am contacted by companies and asked to try and review beauty products, so I receive various products weekly, and I do think they are very good, but would I buy it just because it was made in Korea? The answer is probably not. The nature of K-beauty standards make it challenging to remember that no one’s hair can be that shiny, have makeup that smooth and possess skin completely free of blemishes all at once. Living a life where you constantly criticize what you see in the mirror and in public is exhausting. With the K-pop industry, it is possible to neglect the value of natural beauty. So, it is crucial to remember that the K-beauty world is saturated with cosmetic procedures, heavy makeup, extreme diets and filtered media. Remember that natural is always beautiful and although some of these products are good, you should not feel forced or brainwashed to use them if you do not want to. Let us know your thoughts on this topic in the comments below. #kbeauty #naturalbeauty #beautyinside #kfashion #skincare
