  • Meet the Filipino K-pop performer who has reached global stardom! [Exclusive interview!]

John Paul David AKA Jjamppong is a K-pop performer and content creator with almost 100k TikTok followers, 1.9 million likes, and 18k Facebook followers. He has taken over the globe with his addictive personality and amazing K-pop covers! We get to know this K-pop performer a little more and what it took to reach his level of success! He is a member of the K-pop cover group TeamWhite/Alchemist and a member of the K-pop singing duo "Jinjja". He has performed in various K-pop and Korean-related events in the Philippines since 2016. He also had various TV appearances on GMA-7, ABSCBN, etc. His singing duo, Jinjja, was invited to perform in Mexico's biggest K-pop event in Latin America in February 2023 to represent the Philippines and South Korea at Ciudad de Mehiko. Dojeon Media team member, Henry, had the opportunity to interview this talented dancer and singer! You've been performing in K-pop and Korean-related events since 2014. What are some of the most memorable experiences you've had? My most memorable was my very first Stage (K-pop) appearance at a VOX Entertainment launch in SM Megamall way back in 2014. During our months of training and preparations, I was just enjoying the feeling because I am now experiencing what my favorite K-pop idols are experiencing in their training. It was hard but it's fun and I learned a lot from this training. When “D-day" came, I felt very anxious, like I couldn't breathe seeing such a big crowd but that nervousness faded away as I started performing, and felt a sense of accomplishment when I finished performing. My next memorable experience being on the K-pop stage just happened in 2022. Imagine from 2016 until that time 2022 I have been to a lot and performed a lot of stages with such huge crowds but this memorable stage performance is when my parents and sisters are included in that crowd for the first time. I felt again the anxiousness that I felt the first time I performed. I didn't know if they’d like my performance or if I could make them proud but seeing them clap after I performed made me happy and felt complete as a performer because finally, my family was able to see me perform live. Shout out to my Mama, Papa, and my whole family! I Love Y’all!  What are some of the biggest challenges you've faced in your career so far? How did you overcome them? As someone living and settled in Batangas, one of the biggest challenges I've faced is my everyday travel from Batangas to the event venues, because I have to allocate additional time so I won't be late on my call times and also one of the challenges is my schedule. I currently have a full-time job as a US-based provider service representative (work from home here in Batangas)  and I work at night and most of the events are on weekends. With that being said, I don't have time to sleep because after work at 5 am, I have to travel from Batangas to event venues and it will take me 4-5 hours to reach. When the organizer of the event reached out to us and wanted to have us, at that point I couldn't believe that this was indeed happening. Because who am I to be invited to this big event outside Asia? We are not yet at the same level as what SB19 achieved. That’s what was running through my mind the whole time. I even felt that they were some kind of scammer HAHA not until the event organizer sent us a formal letter of invitation with our flight and hotel information. How did it feel to represent the Philippines and South Korea at such a large event? So surreal. Not even in my dream that I would someday represent the Philippines and South Korea at this big event overseas. This makes me proud of who I am right now as someone who’s been bullied during my high school days and now I am being clapped and making my countrymen proud. What advice would you give to aspiring K-pop performers and content creators? For aspiring K-pop performers, develop a strong work ethic: success in the entertainment industry requires dedication, discipline, and perseverance. Set clear goals: identify your strengths, weaknesses, and aspirations to create a focused plan. Build a strong support network: surround yourself with positive, encouraging people who believe in your talent. Stay flexible and adaptable: be open to feedback, criticism, and new opportunities. Take care of your physical and mental health: prioritize self-care to maintain your energy and creativity. Remember, Always believe in yourself and know the difference between criticism and Insult. Fighting!  For aspiring content creators, define the type of content you want to create and focus on a specific niche that aligns with your interests, skills, and unique perspective. Success doesn’t happen overnight, So stay patient, stay authentic, and keep refining your content based on audience feedback. Hwaiting! • "Number One Girl" — BLACKPINK's Rosé drops new single!

Rosé has been on a roll lately! With her chart-topping single "APT." gaining worldwide attention, she has dropped a new single "Number One Girl" ! We break down the single and other details regarding its release! Contributing to the lyrics, vocals, and composition of all twelve tracks on her new album, Rosé is hoping to make her new album more personal, and perhaps offer a glimpse into her artistry and personal life, outside of BLACKPINK . US pop sensation Bruno Mars also participated in "Number One Girl" , this time as a producer. The American star and Rosé will give the first live performance of their collaboration single "APT." at the 2024 MAMA Awards set to open at the Kyocera Dome Osaka in Japan. Let's check out the video! Following the pink visuals in the singe "APT.", this new video sees Rosé taking center stage, wandering the streets of Seoul solo at night singing her heart out from the top of a lookout tower under the Jamsugyo Bridge, which offers a retro style feel. Both "APT." and "Number One Girl" stand worlds apart from each other, however, they also open her up to a sense of insecurity with the verse: [Bridge] The girl in your eyes, the girl in your eyes Tell me I'm the number one girl I'm the number one girl in your eyes The girl in your eyes, the girl in your eyes Tell me I'm the number one girl I'm the number one girl in your eyes Also in "APT.", the vocals were more raucous firepower, however in contrast the lyrics and vocals in "Number One Girl" dial into the singer's softer side. Her performance in the music video feels genuine, and there are some melodies where you can hear Bruno Mars' personal touch. Our thoughts We think that she has pulled off this more casual concept really well, and Rosé, for sure, puts on a captivating performance. We can imagine this appealing very strongly to her core fanbase and the more casual listener of her music. Rosé shows complete transparency through this powerful song, and for young listeners it could however be confusing with the two messages that the song delivered : that it’s good to tell the truth about our hearts’ desires, but that we must promise ourselves completely to someone in order to get our needs met. Let us know your thoughts on her new single in the comments below. #BLACKPINK #rose #ROSE #kpop #numberonegirl #single

We uncover what happened and whether this is actually true! SUGA is perhaps one of the best rappers in the K-pop industry and has helped pave the way for many new artists in the industry. But do you know that he was once married? This event happened a long time ago during a VLine when the global K-pop star accepted an ARMY fan's marriage proposal during a concert. • Can "The Fiery Priest Season 2" Challenge Public Confidence in Korean Justice?

The Fiery Priest  Season 2 has returned with action, humor, and controversy. Directed by Park Bo Ram ( Through the Darkness 2022), this crime comedy K-drama continues the adventures of ex-NIS-agent-turned-priest Kim Hae Il ( Kim Nam Gil ) and detective Goo Dae Young ( Kim Sung Kyun ). Set five years after the events of Season 1, the duo battles growing criminal activities in "Gudam." The first season, released in 2019, became a massive hit with a 22% finale viewership rating. Fans eagerly awaited this sequel, now airing on Disney Plus Hotstar with 12 episodes, releasing two every Friday and Saturday. The season opened with an impressive 11.9% rating (According to Korea Times), showcasing its strong fan base. However, it hasn’t escaped criticism. Many argue the show glamorizes vigilante justice and undermines faith in real-life authorities. Similar debates surrounded recent dramas like The Judge From Hell  and I, the Executioner , which also portray justice outside the law. This debate also echoes discussions around The Glory , which critiques societal failures while portraying vigilante action. These narratives spark mixed reactions, with some praising their bold storytelling and others worrying about the practical implications. The much-awaited second season of The Fiery Priest  brings back fan favorites Kim Nam Gil as the fiery priest Kim Hae Il, Lee Ha Nee as prosecutor Park Kyung Sun, and Kim Sung Kyun as detective Gu Dae Young. Joining them is BIBI , portraying Gu Ja Young, the sister of Gu Dae Young. Along with Sung Joon joins as the main antagonist, Kim Hong Sik, a ruthless drug lord with plans to expand Korea’s drug trade. Season 2 comprises 12 episodes, with two airing weekly on Fridays and Saturdays. Episodes 5 and 6 will be released on November 22 and 23, exclusively on Disney Plus Hotstar. Is The Fiery Priest  Season 2 a step forward in K-drama storytelling, or does it pose ethical concerns about justice? Share your thoughts below! #TheFieryPriest #KimSungKyun #KimNamGil
