  • A Touch Of Korean Traditional Fashion In K-pop Music Videos

#Kpop #Hanbok #BTS #BLACKPINK #TWICE Aside from the catchy and cool music of the eminent K-pop groups, it is also their sense of style that draws our attention more to them. We have seen how the fashion in the modern K-pop “idol” culture has evolved tracing back from its beginning in the early 1990s. In the recent decade, we have seen K-pop artists channel their patriotism through their fashion, showcasing a great fusion of modern fashion and the fashion of their ancestors. We think that it is a plus point for our idols that they have a knack for their craft and are also proud about their culture. To truly substantiate the previous paragraph, here are some of the big hit K-pop music videos where you can see your idols rocking modernized Korean traditional wear. 1. BLACKPINK- “How You Like That” This K-pop girl group needs no introduction with all of its members being ambassadors for many big fashion houses, they are usually spotted pulling off clothes from the brands they endorse from their street wear to their performance outfits. In their music video “How You Like That” the outfits they wore embody the elements of hanbok. Giving the Korean traditional clothes a modern spin to it, the length of the fabric was shortened to give it a lighter and lax vibe. What makes those pieces of clothes scream more of Korean traditional fashion are the embroidery, tassels, and intricate beadings of it. Let’s look out for those details! 2. BTS- “IDOL” Rocking hanbok with sneakers, what a fashion-forward combination! BTS pulled off hanbok in a more laid-back way by styling the hanbok’s jacket loosely tied or unwrapped but the plush fabrics and exquisitely embroidered patterns balanced the overall look. In case you are wondering what J-Hope's headwear is, it is called “gat”. Back in ancient times, the black transparent hat symbolizes the noble social status of men and also protects their topknot hairstyle. We would love to see more Korean traditional fashion-inspired outfits donned by them! 3. TWICE- “Cheer Up” There are many outfits in this music video that dazzled us for sure but the red and white floral hanbok that Da Hyun pulled off is astounding on its own. She totally went for a Korean traditional-inspired look by styling her hair pulled back, accentuating the beauty of a woman’s face. The power of accessorizing really did its job in stepping up the fashion game. What a way to celebrate Korean culture with the rest of the world! Which among those music videos got you captivated with Korean traditional inspired fashion? We would also love to read your thoughts so drop them here!
