This snack has gone viral for a number of reasons, and one of them is the variety of flavors that it comes in. This strange little sea animal, has been a favorite movie snack for Koreans for decades, and it isn't going to change any time soon.

The traditional way to serve up this snack is to dry it for months, usually until it is hard and brown, which you are then supposed to toast and flame and then add a dip, either hot pepper or mayonnaise.

  1. Roasted Chestnuts

Warming and flavorful, chestnuts have for a long time been a popular Korean cinema snack, much like hotdogs or nachos, and they are for sure easier on the stomach than the number one cinema food, squid. Chestnuts, especially during the winter months, are roasted, dried, and then placed into a sealed bag for movie goers. This snack is perfect for a cold winter trip to the movies!

Let's check out what foreigners think of Korean cinema snacks!

Easy to eat and more flavorful, not all chains offer this option, but one thing is for sure, the chains that do, are more popular than those who don't. This unique option allows viewers to sit back and relax and enjoy the movie, while eating some skewered chicken or fish balls.

  1. Cheese popcorn .... Yes!

Regardless of where you are from, popcorn has been a movie staple for a long long time, and even cinemas in Korea offer this snack. That is, however, if you are willing to try something sweeter and definitely more rich!

There are options, but cheese and dried butter are the two most popular flavors of popcorn for movie goers in Korea. Some cinemas have also dabbled in offering garlic, caramel and onion, which are not ideal for that romantic kiss at the back of the cinema, but if you cannot decide between these unique flavors, then you can opt for a 50 / 50 split.
