In a positively glamorous and rhythmic percussion throughout, JYP's ITZY released their first single M/V, "Bet On Me", for their upcoming album! We break down the new single, plus show you some of the behind-the-scenes photos!
Amassing over 1.6 million views in just over 9 hours, ITZY's new single is reminiscent of an early 2000s rock/pop song. "Bet On Me" starts off dark and ominous with references to "sleepless nights" and "This labyrinth goes deep". But then, the song starts to pick up (although the beat remains the same throughout the song) when they start to shout "run run run"! We see Yeji running for her life! (She definitely got into better shape after filming haha!) The song immediately turns positive as we get to understand what the context behind the depressing-sounding first verse was about.
The constant message in this song is "I still don't believe in myself, but I will run towards my dreams" which is the simple message that we understood after watching the M/V several times. Let us know if you agree or not! Although there is much self-doubt most of us have when pursuing something not sure, we should just go ahead and try it. The lyrics "But I hear this voice inside of me I'm going to follow it" solidifies what we think is the main meaning of the song.
The quintet looked gorgeous as each member looked flawless in their street outfits! Each outfit compliments each member's style and fashion sense and we love it! With realistic background shots of Seoul from the subway to the top of a bridge, the video was simple but effective!
