If you didn't already know, Soojin used to be part of the K-pop band (G)I-DLE before going solo in 2023, with "AGASSY" which was her debut as a solo artist. "AGASSY" was a song high on atmosphere and low on substance. That description could match many K-pop tracks of the last two years or so, and the new single "Mona Lisa" also fits within this realm.
On May 23, 2024, we saw the release of Soojin's comeback "Mona Lisa" music video teaser, which has been highly anticipated by her fans. Was it worth the wait?

Now for me, I have to be honest and say that the performance was visually stunning, however, I did find the title track a little underwhelming although it was catchy.
Speaking of momentum, I did notice that there was a pretty cool part to the song near the end where the instrumental took center stage and the guitar did finally bring back a much-needed dynamic punch to the song. It’s much too little, too late, but this demonstrates how compelling production might have elevated an uninspired song

I think that musically, it may grow on me the more I listen to the track. It almost reminded me of 2016 - 2018's K-pop, so I am very curious to see what she will do when she takes the stage soon, and I hope it is enough to keep her in the competitive industry.
