Begin Again is a popular South Korean musical television program broadcast on JTBC. Reputable South Korean musicians travel to places in South Korea and overseas to hold busking events, introducing themselves to the locals through their performances.
These artists have consistently stood out with their exceptional performances, captivating viewers with their raw talent and emotional renditions.
I remember when I first came to Korea in 2020 and had to complete the mandatory 10-day quarantine (during COVID) and during that time, I spent a lot of time watching various Korean TV and happened to come across Being Again. I really love music, acoustic music especially, so I was taken aback by the vocal talent and idea behind the program. At that time Henry Lau, and Lee Su Hyun (AKMU) were for sure my favorite!
Since then the cast has changed with other great stars appearing as well as the change in destinations. I really like how they cover international songs as well as Korean songs making the show more diverse.
The latest addition to the list is Park Jeongwoo, the main vocalist of TREASURE! The skillful fourth-generation idol recently appeared in the show along with Red Velvet’s Wendy and other renowned South Korean singers. With soul-stirring performances of “Always” and “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You,” he won over everyone's hearts, demonstrating his undeniable talent and potential.
I have not really had much exposure to the K-pop band TREASURE, however having listened to this cover, I went on to check the band out, and I have now listened to many of their songs and will continue to do so.
Begin Again for me, was an easy introduction to K-pop and the music scene here in Korea, I really hope that the show adapts and continues to run over time.
