Winter has hit, and the temperatures have become colder, so what better way to fill up and keep warm than visiting Tongkeun Galbi in Seoul? This wonderful restaurant chain boasts excellent pork galbi (marinated pork ribs) with a ton of side dishes! Read on to find out why it has made our "Restaurant of the Month"!
This restaurant chain is located in Sinchon and Hongdae, and it is the place to go if you want something besides samgyupsal. I have to say that I have never been disappointed whenever I have visited. The pork galbi was not only delicious but also particularly huge, and the flavors were slightly sweet (like most Korean food) due to the marinate. Having said that, it is not heavy and it does not make you feel greasy which other BBQs sometimes do.
If you visit, I also highly recommend the steamed eggs, which are definitely worth the extra 2,000 won!
Lunch is served!
They also have a lunch set menu as well. Normally, you eat the pork galbi until you're almost full and order the beef galbi or samgyupsal separately, and this meal would not be complete without some Sochu.
The side dishes options are very diverse: there is spaghetti and rice for complimentary service. If you would like to eat different types of sides and meat, you must come here for the BBQ! In addition, I love their unlimited drinks option, so if you are a huge alcohol lover while you eat BBQ, visit here!
