With the exciting news that the originally disbanded girl group FIFTY FIFTY is returning with four new members, we finally get to understand why ATTRAKT decided to have Keena return with a second chance! Read on to find out why!
In a mysterious teaser "Silouhette" that was released last week, many fans took to online forums to guess who the new members of FIFTY FIFTY will be! Fans speculated Chanelle Moon and Yewon from Belift Lab's reality series R U Next. But with the success of FIFTY FIFTY's hit song "Cupid", fans are worried if the group will be able to replicate the unique atmosphere with its new members. Let's take a look at "Cupid" for a refresher!
Keena debuted as a singer, not a rapper!
If you look at "Cupid", you will realize that Keena is in charge of the rapping part of the song, however, you might be surprised to know that she actually debuted as a singer first! Among the first generation FIFTY FIFTY members, Keena was the only member to release a song before their debut! In the OST for the K-drama The Running Mates (2019), Keena participated in the production of the song "Take Back My Life" under her real name Song Ja Kyung!
Fans were so taken aback by Keena's amazing vocals and singing ability that they wondered why she was only rapping for FIFTY FIFTY. You'd be even more amazed as to why ATTRAKT decided to debut Keena as a rapper when you hear/watch her cover of Changmo's "Selfmade Orange"!
"She is such a great vocalist, but her rap is next level." — Fans amazed at Keena's rapping ability
Her rapping skills surprised fans as they made comments such as, "She is such a great vocalist, but her rap is next level." So Keena simply didn't rap because she was a bad singer, but she had to give up singing to become a great rapper! It is because of her amazing abilities that ATTRAKT decided to have Keena become the center of the new group!
To add further context as to why Keena was brought back we can come back to the creation of their hit single "Cupid". If you watch the making-of video for "Cupid", you can see that Keena was active in the writing of the song giving her 6.5% share in the copyright for "Cupid" (highlighted in green)!
So are you impressed by Keena's abilities as much as we are? Let us know in the comments below with your thoughts!
