Making the headlines for all of the wrong reasons, T.O.P apologizes for his recent social media outrage to his fans. What did he say and how will he move forward?

Having recently starred in this hit Netflix show Squid Game series two, the actor and musician spoke to media outlets for the first time in eleven years!

In 2016, T.O.P, received a probationary sentence, having been found guilty for illegal drug use, leading to him being outed by his group BigBang in 2022, which also led to him parting ways with YG Entertainment. After almost eleven years, T.O.P spoke out to answer an number of unanswered questions about the controversies that have surround him all this time.

So who is T.O.P?

T.O.P took to the stage when he was in twenties, he had always had a passion for fame and stardom, and with his determination it led him to great things. He used to perform as an underground rapper and he was then scouted by YG Entertainment in 2006 where he joined the boy band BigBang, and he led the group to global heights and one of the best all time selling groups in Asia. As a solo artist he also released two singles "Turn it Up" in 2010 and "Doom Dada" in 2013, which peaked near the top of the charts coming in at number two and number four. Sadly, with the level of fame that he had, this all came crashing down in 2017, when he was arrested for the use of marijuana, and a number of his fans walking away from him.

So will T.O.P return to BigBang?

Fans have asked the question as to whether or not T.O.P will return to BigBang one day, although they are worried about the bands reputation as it was previously tarnished after the drug scandal. T.O.P said in an interview that "It would be shameful for me to do so. I already decided long ago that I did not want to hurt the group's image anymore, and that has not changed. I do not blame others for criticizing me. The team and I received so much unimaginable love and praise in our twenties, and the criticism that followed is also a part of that."

Finally, T.O.P revealed, "I think of it as my responsibility to make up for all of the mistakes that I made to those fans who are still waiting for me. I cannot go too much into detail, but I am hoping to release an album soon. I spent the last 7 years as an outcast from society, living in my studio and working on music. Being in front of the mic, making music, was the only time I felt like I could breathe. I made music to live. There are way too many songs to count, and I think of it as my responsibility to share some of them with my fans who still support me."

“In my 20s, I made huge mistakes, and the dark times I faced then led me down a path I had never been on before. What followed was a truly hellish period of darkness, during which I became emotionally devastated,” he shared. “I experienced profound psychological deterioration and intense self-loathing.”

Following his role in the Netflix series Squid Game season two, he has came back into the eyes of his once adoring fans, though during his sentence time he was unable to apply for a role in the first series of Squid Game, though following his successful role in season two he has a very dapper image and attitude, as shown in one of his new profile shots below.

The start mentioned that after a rigorous application process he received an offer to audition for the role of Thanos, and like any other actor he recorded a video and sent it into the production team. He later met with the director and further cross checks he was offered the role officially. Choi revealed. “If it hadn’t been Thanos, I wouldn’t have taken on the role. It was an extremely difficult decision for me, given my past mistakes. But Thanos was a character I had to confront head on — not a righteous figure, but a stereotypically failed, pathetic hip-hop loser. That aspect gave me the courage to step forward.”

We have been left with questions, as to whether or not a former Korean culture icon will be able to resume his influence back in the K-pop industry by winning back fans and holding more art exhibitions, and pushing his own fashion label. What do you think?

Will his apology be enough? Let us know in the comments below.
