The K-pop boy group One Pact recently dropped their cinematic style music video for "FXX OFF" ("꺼져" or "Get Lost") which is the title track for their first single album "PARADOXX". The track itself hosts an orchestra backdrop, as well as elements of hip-hop. Lyrically, the song's key message is to reach those who "play by the rules". Let's break down more details on One Pact's highly-anticipated comeback!
"PARADOXX" was released on June 7, 2024, and since its debut, it has received fantastic reviews on social media! Featured in the album are B-sides "Period" and "Dejavu", which for me boast a powerful name as well as the album title of "Paradoxs".
Let's check out their music video below!
I liked the opening pan-in shot, showing the vast desert landscape followed up with a classic American camper van and within that creating an almost mysterious feeling with the close-up of the see-through bag and mobile phone. It left me wondering what was going on. Once the beat dropped and the rap started I thought that a more gentle approach in would have perhaps been better as it felt fairly heavy all of a sudden.
The dance routine is, of course, spectacular, and I could never do anything as close as the boys are doing in the video, however, I do feel that it takes the focus off of the actual singing and creates more of a performance, before leading to what I felt was an abrupt ending with the signer putting the mobile phone into his pocket.
