Contributing to the lyrics, vocals, and composition of all twelve tracks on her new album, Rosé is hoping to make her new album more personal, and perhaps offer a glimpse into her artistry and personal life, outside of BLACKPINK. US pop sensation Bruno Mars also participated in "Number One Girl", this time as a producer.

The American star and Rosé will give the first live performance of their collaboration single "APT." at the 2024 MAMA Awards set to open at the Kyocera Dome Osaka in Japan.

Let's check out the video!

Following the pink visuals in the singe "APT.", this new video sees Rosé taking center stage, wandering the streets of Seoul solo at night singing her heart out from the top of a lookout tower under the Jamsugyo Bridge, which offers a retro style feel.

Both "APT." and "Number One Girl" stand worlds apart from each other, however, they also open her up to a sense of insecurity with the verse:

[Bridge]

The girl in your eyes, the girl in your eyes

Tell me I'm the number one girl

I'm the number one girl in your eyes

The girl in your eyes, the girl in your eyes

Tell me I'm the number one girl

I'm the number one girl in your eyes

Also in "APT.", the vocals were more raucous firepower, however in contrast the lyrics and vocals in "Number One Girl" dial into the singer's softer side. Her performance in the music video feels genuine, and there are some melodies where you can hear Bruno Mars' personal touch.

Our thoughts

We think that she has pulled off this more casual concept really well, and Rosé, for sure, puts on a captivating performance. We can imagine this appealing very strongly to her core fanbase and the more casual listener of her music.

Rosé shows complete transparency through this powerful song, and for young listeners it could however be confusing with the two messages that the song delivered: that it’s good to tell the truth about our hearts’ desires, but that we must promise ourselves completely to someone in order to get our needs met.
