Nam Joo Hyuk, Roh Yoon Seo Cho, and Seung Woo at "East Palace" Script Reading

Netflix has announced a new drama tentatively titled East Palace starring Cho Seung Woo, Nam Joo Hyuk, and Roh Yoon Seo in lead roles! The series will explore a cursed palace filled with ghosts and spirits. Exclusive photos from the first script reading session have already stirred excitement among fans.

The drama is directed by Choi Jung Kyu, known for The Devil Judge (2021). The writers, Kwon So Ra and Seo Jea Won, are celebrated for their work on The Guest (2018) and Bulgasal: Immortal Souls (2021 - 2022). Together, they promise a thrilling blend of horror, fantasy, and palace drama.

East Palace follows Gu Cheon (Nam Joo Hyuk), who can travel to the ghost world, and Saeng Gang (Roh Yoon Seo), a court lady who hears spirits. They are summoned by the king (Cho Seung Woo) to break a deadly curse in the palace.

This series marks Nam Joo Hyuk’s much-anticipated return to the screen following his military service completion in September. Known for his roles in Twenty-Five Twenty-One and Start-Up, fans eagerly await Nam’s return.

Roh Yoon Seo, recognized for her breakout performance in Our Blues, adds her charm to the cast, while Cho Seung Woo, an acclaimed actor from Stranger and Life, brings gravitas to his role as the enigmatic king.

Fans of supernatural palace dramas might compare this to The Guest, which focused on exorcisms and dark folklore, or Bulgasal: Immortal Souls, a tale of revenge and immortality. The hit series Kingdom, blending historical settings with supernatural horror, also shares similar themes.

East Palace aims to delight viewers with its ghostly mysteries and royal secrets. Though the release date has yet to be announced, the anticipation is already rising. The release date has not been confirmed although it is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2025. Be sure to follow us to keep up-to-date on the latest K-drama news!
