Scheduled to premiere on August 21, 2024, only on Netflix, Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE gives K-pop fans a glimpse into what life is really like for the six members! From countless hours of vocal and choreography practice to the emotional drive away from friends and family, this docuseries will give K-pop fans a reality check!
Let's take out the "K" in K-pop
Formed through the reality series Dream Academy, KATSEYE is based in Los Angeles, California, and is a collaborative effort between HYBE and Geffen Records. When K-pop entertainment companies such as HYBE, YG Entertainment, and SM Entertainment set out in the beginning, their vision was to become a global factory for pop stars, thus removing the "K" from K-pop. This is why now we're seeing so many reality shows that feature idols from different countries. From JYP's A2K reality series to JTBC's upcoming reality series Project 7, K-pop is looking outside its country's borders for more talented individuals to change the pop music landscape.
