Is player 456 the front man? This is the question that fans have been asking following Squid Game actor Lee Jung Jae making a guest appearance on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon! We cover what the star actor said about the upcoming series and confirmed news for season 3!
In just over a week, season two of Squid Game returns to Netflix. This Korean made series has left fans speculating since the end of season one, what the plot will look like, and which famous faces will appear. The main star Lee Jung Jae recently appeared on the hit US talk show The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to give fans a better idea of what's coming up in season 2!
Lee Jung Jae confirmed in his interview that the famous doll which appeared in 'Red Light, Green Light' will re-appear in season 2, as you may have already seen in the trailer. The actor also announced that he is the only Squid Game winner competing in this season and that there will be new games which contestants will have to compete in, in order to not be eliminated.
However, when Fallon asked if he would become the new front man for the games, the actor played coy and dodged the question. During some parts of his interview, Lee Jung Jae understood questions in English, and answered them in Korea, focusing on the upcoming season 2, but also about his role as an actor, and breaking into the Korean entertainment industry.
Let's take a look at the interview!
During the interview Fallon also received confirmation that Squid Game 3 will return to our screens for the final part in the series!
Jimmy Fallon gets confirmation on Squid Game season 3, and then turned his questions to what the future has in store, asking if season 3 would arrive on Netflix in 2025. Lee gave that question an emphatic "Yes". Again, this only confirmed news that was already out there.
In a public letter from the series director, and executive producer Hwang Dong Hyu dating back to July 2024, he shared that “I am beyond excited to be writing this letter to announce the date for Season 2 and share the news of Season 3, the final season,” he wrote. “The fierce clash between two worlds will continue into the series finale with Season 3."
This also loosely confirms that Player 456 Lee Jung Jae will also be back for season 3, which is great news for some fans!
The letter seems to confirm that Lee Jung Jae (aka Player 456) will also be back for season 3. So you can rest a little easier knowing that Seong Gi Hun will survive the seven episodes in season 2. His fate following season 3 is another story.
