With many K-dramas out there, Parole Examiner Lee stands out as a must-watch this winter! We discuss why this drama should be at the top of your winter watchlist!
What is this drama about?
Lee Han Shin (Ko Soo) is a former lawyer who turned into a parole examiner. He is dedicated to his job which involves preventing inmates from exploiting the parole system through money, connections, or deceit, however, he is empathetic towards people who are unjustly imprisoned.
Han Shin teams up with detective An Seo Yun (Kwon Yu Ri) and the two cops are joined by an unexpected ally loan shark Choi Hwa Ran with the ultimate goal of confronting Ji Myeong Seop, a second-generation family business heir who believes he's above the law. Can this unlikely group succeed in its battle against corruption?
Let's check out the official trailer:
The screen has been turned into a scene where Chairman Ji Dong Man is sentenced to three years in prison on charges of embezzlement and breach of trust. Lawyer Lee Han Shin, who appeared in the flying egg baptism with the anger of civic groups to arrest Ji Dong Man, protected Ji Dong Man and handed over his business card, saying, "Please call me whenever you need me."
A year later, Lee Han Shin, who became a butler lawyer, won the favor of Ji Dong Man by using all means, including meeting actor Choi Won Mi (Hwang Woo Seul Hye), his ex-wife, and bringing his dog Leo. Lee Han Shin's appearance in the lawyer's reception room, singing "Why are you coming out of there," while wearing glitter and handing over his dog Leo to Ji Dong Man caused laughter and highlighted his unique personality of doing anything to get what he wanted.
Why Parole Officer Lee has us intrigued
I love thrillers and crime shows, and this trailer has made me intrigued by what is driving the main characters, and it makes me curious about what Han Shin's plan is, and the motivation behind it. Han Shin is playing the long game and has managed to play the character very well based on what we have been able to see so far.
Our hero is not here to play, and Han Shin makes it very clear to the parole board that he will look into everything carefully, and he even did his legwork to get a repentant criminal accepted onto the parole list. So when it comes to Chairman Ji’s “special in-person” parole hearing, Han Shin has some evidence and theatrics to wave around at everyone and I loved it. You can tell Han Shin is hanging on by a thread and is willing to throw himself under the bus to get the job done.
Following the show being aired, fans have taken to social media to express their opinions, plot twists and suspicions. Let's check some of them out!
This series depicts the thrilling and ironclad defence lawyer Lee Han Shin, who becomes the final judge of prisoners and a parole officer who stops people with bad consciences. This is a must watch winter drama, that will leave you at the edge of your seats!
