Kim Hee Ae is back with another political thriller in "The Whirlwind", but this time with the gloves off!

Looking to be this year's most promising political thriller, Netflix's The Whirlwind looks to stir up the Blue House (Korea's White House) once again! Armed with two of the best leads in the K-drama industry, Kim Hee Ae and Sol Kyung Gu, we cover why The Whirlwind will be at the top of our K-drama summer playlist!

Netflix dropped a thriller on-the-edge-of-your-seat trailer for its upcoming political thriller The Whirlwind! Kim Hee Ae returns with another politically charged role since her Queenmaker masterpiece from 2023! Adding to the riveting trailer, veteran actor Sol Kyung Gu (Kill Boksoon 2023) looks to challenge the status quo of South Korea's political elite as the prime minister of South Korea. Take a look at this exciting trailer!

Why we're watching

Want to assassinate the president for colluding with the nation's chaebols and to make the political system "more just"? Sure, why not? Park Dong Ho (Sol Kyung Gu) is currently the prime minister and will stop at nothing to make sure that South Korea returns to a fair and just country. Will his moral compass take a hit when the deputy prime minister of economic affairs, Jung Soo Jin (Kim Hee Ae) stands in his way? We want to see this political onslaught unfold and see whether the ends justify the means!

This will be Sol Kyung Gu's first drama that he has appeared in. The Whirlwind is set to premiere on June 28, 2024, and will be available for streaming on Netflix. It is literally Kingmaker (2022) vs. Queenmaker and we're ready to see the gloves off!
