So what is the new drama about?
This new K-drama is set to follow the journey of CEO Kang Tae Poon (his name also means "typhoon"), who is struggling to protect the Typhoon Company, which is a small business left by his grandfather. He navigates through the hurdle of the IMF crisis in 1997, trying to survive with heartfelt messages and comfort.
Born to wealthy parents in Apgujeong (an affluent area in Seoul), Kang Tae Poon deals with the remains of his family's collapsed company due to the financial struggles sparked by the IMF 1997 crisis.
Although immature at first, Kang Tae Poong becomes a true adult while facing hurdles with the people around him. He showcases warmth, a strong sense of responsibility, and the mindset to take on challenges himself.
As the responsible and resourceful eldest daughter of her family, Oh Mi Seon carries the weight of her entire family on her shoulders. Oh Mi Seon is in charge of everything from cleaning to organizing receipts at Typhoon Company. With her perseverance and hard work, Oh Mi Seon aims to build a successful career.
She feels a sense of hope when she meets Kang Tae Poong, who tries to save the company despite the IMF crisis. A highlight of the drama will be the chemistry between Oh Mi Seon and Kang Tae Poong as they face the IMF crisis together.
Meet the stars
Kim Min Ha (Light Shop 2024), who debuted in 2016, broke into the entertainment scene through dramas like School 2017 and Partners for Justice, she gained international fame in 2022 with her portrayal of young Seon Ja on Apple TV+'s Pachinko, earning widespread global fame.
Lee Junho, who many of you may already know from the K-pop band 2PM, will also be taking on a lead role in this exciting new drama. As well as having impeccable singing skills, he is also a talented actor, and fans are excited to see him return to the small screen.
Lee Junho has previously won over audiences with his versatile performances. His historical drama The Red Sleeve recorded a 17.4% viewership rating, reviving the sageuk (historical) genre. Meanwhile, King the Land topped Netflix's global charts, solidifying his status as a leading actor. This actor is set to take the show to a new level once it's aired.
When will Typhoon Company be broadcast?
The production team asked viewers to anticipate the drama will be broadcast in the second half of 2025. So K-drama fans keep your eyes and ears peeled!
