The majority of period K-dramas are set during the Joseon Dynasty (the golden time) of Korean history. But Queen Woo takes a surprising and interesting take on Korean history as it takes place during the Goguryeo era (37 B.C. - A.D. 668). During this ancient period, Korea was divided into tribes where warlords would battle their neighboring tribes for territory and power.
