Jay Park is, rightfully so, a household name in Korea. During my four years there, I have heard countless people talk about the Korean-American star, and all of their conversations have been positive.

Jay Parks, career has been going on for some time now, and although he was part of the band, 2PM, in 2009, his stint with the band was cut short in 2009 when his old online comments about his difficulty adapting to an unfamiliar country surfaced, drawing harsh criticism from the media and the public. He eventually parted ways with the band and returned to his hometown of Seattle, Washington. After Park’s return to the United States, public perceptions changed after people realized that his online messages had been taken out of context, leading to a strong demand for his return. He re-debuted as a solo artist in 2010, and from there he has gained success on a global scale.

Park Jae Bom (his Korean name) has become one of the biggest names in the Asian entertainment industry as a recording artist, founder of three well-known South Korean music labels, and an entrepreneur, with a Korean liquor brand. The star really has been an all-rounder in the entertainment industry, which is why I believe having tried his hand at many different things, has made him successful.

In an interview, Park talked about his long-overdue fan meeting, being the first K-pop star to open an OnlyFans account, and his upcoming foray into K-pop management with two bands set to debut. I am surprised to hear that he opened an OnlyFans account, as many Western idols would not dare to do this, but equally, I am not surprised to hear that he has, as "sex" sells, and with his large following I think that would be an easy income stream for the star to have on the side.

Let's look at a short clip from one of his recent interviews in Seoul!

Back to R&B roots

Back with a full-length album after five years, Jay Park released "The One You Wanted" on October 8, 2024. Filled with 20 new R&B songs — nine which are new and 11 released in the past — Park explains why this album is so special to him. "I think people are going to think that this album won’t have a big impact. But that’s what I’m going for — a timeless classic that’s listened to five, 10 years from now," Jay Park stated during a press conference earlier this month.

He continues to explain why he is the only one in the industry qualified to create this type of music: “I’m the only person who can make these kinds of songs,” he said. “I know that I’m the only artist who has this kind of experience and can make this style of music. I hope that people listen to it a lot, but even if they don’t, I know that people will always hear my music and think, ‘Isn’t this Jay Park?’ because I’m just irreplaceable.”
