What is the Hanbok?

The Hanbok is centuries old, and it is a traditional garment in Korea. It was once reserved for special occasions and celebrations such as Lunar New Year, Chuseok and weddings. However, over the years, various Korean designers such as OUWR and Danha have modernized the hanbok, while still trying to retain as much as the original form as possible, in order to make it an item for everyday wear within the fashion world.

The hanbok is different for men and women, and for women it consists of the jeogori (jacket) and chima (skirt) for women, or baji (trousers) for men. Its flowing lines and distinctive aesthetic have remained largely unchanged for generations.

Currently, Korean celebrities are using these iconic and classic elements in order to create a piece that honors their deep traditional routes but also trying to embrace current fashion trends.
