Premiering on August 30, 2024, on Apple TV+, K-pop Idols is a six-part mini-series that gives K-pop fans an unprecedented backstage pass into the intense reality of being a K-pop star! Several K-pop reality docuseries are coming out this summer including BBC's Made in Korea: The K-pop Experience featuring UK's first K-pop group Dear Alice and Netflix's Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE which is steadily feeding the global intrigue about Korean entertainment culture. Let's watch the trailer to see the intensity it takes to become a K-pop star!
We love that Jessi and Black Swan are both featured and have a chance to talk about being "foreigners" in the K-pop industry. Jessi, was born and raised in the United States, and then moved to South Korea to pursue her career as well as Black Swan, a group entirely made of women from different countries and cultures, have a chance to speak their minds about the reality of becoming a K-pop idol. Meanwhile, Allen from Cravity, being Taiwanese-American also has a chance to speak about being an Asian-American idol, not of Korean descent, in what used to be, a Korean-dominant industry.
We're excited to see how Apple TV+ portrays these superstars! Will they get a chance to speak their truths about the K-pop industry? Will K-pop fans get a genuine look into the lives of their stars? Comment below with your thoughts on this new exciting series!
