G-Dragon and Daesung recently SUPRISED fans at Taeyang's show in Seoul, "The Light Year". This was Taeyang's first solo concert in seven years! We have all the details and videos that you need to see!
With the first concert in over 7 years, BIGBANG's Taeyang was able to meet his fans who have eagerly been waiting for him to jump back on the stage. Why has it taken the star 7 years to return?
A great thing about comebacks is that tickets often sell out very fast. Taeyang held the first of his two-day solo concert on Sunday, "TAEYANG 2024 TOUR 'THE LIGHT YEAR' IN SEOUL", at the Olympic Hall in Seoul, marking his first solo concert since 2017. Both shows sold out within minutes after the release of tickets, proving Taeyang's enduring popularity. Will this lead to more sell-out shows over the next few months?
At the show, the K-pop star was able to show off his solo ability, but he also performed a classic medley of BIGBANG'S hit songs, which included "If You", "Blue", "Loser" and some others, this allowed the crowd to sing along and at points in the show, due to the fans singing so loud, it was hard to hear Taeyang, which I think is really magical and it shows the level of interest that fans still have in the star after a 7-year break.
Of course, this was not all, Daesung took to the stage for a solo performance and a joint performance with Taeyang, which of course made the crowd even more excited than they already were. This surprise appearance during the performance of "A Fools Only Tears" allowed Daesung to sing the song with Taeyang, and the bond between the two seemed to be as strong as ever!
Let's take a look at the magic moment!
Having watched the video of this special moment, I can feel the crowd's excitement at the guest's appearance. I think it's great that the fans were so happy and singing along to the songs. That said, I am not the biggest fan of the wardrobe concept that the performers were wearing. Is this even fashion?! I think the oversized baggy cargo trousers look a bit ridiculous.
However, in terms of the vocals, I think the performers did a fantastic job singing live, as many artists nowadays opt for auto-tune or pre-recorded vocals during live performances which I did not hear here. Is this the start of something more from the surprise guest appearances? Like other reunion performances that bands or solo artists have embarked on in the past, I have to say that due to the level of fan excitement, it has to be one of the best in K-pop history, I can of course envision that this will lead to a 'comeback' tour later this year or early next year.
Taeyang will continue his tour across Asia including Osaka, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Taipei!
