Now, if your like me, I believe that K-pop has become more than music and is now in fact a way of life. On January 29th 2024, I was lucky enough to interview Jinny from the K-pop boy band MEGAMAX! What better way to understand the K-pop industry and MEGAMAX! Let's go!
With over 58,000 followers on Instagram and 25,000 subscribers on YouTube, I was excited to find out what Jinny had to say!
Q1: Jinny, can you please tell DOJEON readers about yourself?
My name is Jinny! I am the lead vocalist/rapper in the K-POP boy group MEGAMAX.
Q2: You have performed on several TV shows, including "Show Champion". Can you share more details about these?
Of course, since I signed a contract with a new agency a couple of years ago, I joined the K-POP band 'MEGAMAX' and since joining I have been lucky enough to appear on many TV shows.
I appeared on the TV show '"Show Champion", and we debuted with the song '"Painted Love'" which was the title track of MEGAMAX'S first album. This was also my first major TV debut, so I was really nervous, and my legs kept shaking before I went on stage. The performance happened so fast, and was a real success. I think it was pretty cool.
Q3: Are there any artists, that you would really like to work with in the future?
If I have a chance, I'd like to perform with Hyorin and Jeon Soyeon of (G)I-DLE. I truly respect their stage dominance and think that they are both really good artists. Also, I would like to work with TMI but Jeon So Yeon has the same MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indication) as me. INTP! (Introverted, Intuitive, thinking and perceiving) So I think I can have even more fun at work in collaboration with these artists.
Q4: .You are a member of the boy band MEGAMAX. What is the best thing about being part of a band? And what have your best memories been so far?
I think the best thing about being part of a band, is that we can rely on each other if we have a big performance or any pressures. I usually get nervous on stage, but whenever I look at the other members, I feel relieved and they make me feel at ease.
I remember appearing at the Daegu K-POP concert. I did performance and MC. It was a fun and new experience to meet PSY and EXO's Kai, who were always so big IDOLS of mine growing up, and to interview IZ*ONE's Kwon Eunbi and Hyewon! It was my first time hosting as MC, so I think it's a memory I'll never forget!
Q5; In lots of your performances you have choreography involved. How long does it take it learn a routine, and do you have any favorite routine that you have learnt?
Surprisingly, I joined the group MEGAMAX as a new member, and we had a full schedule for the following week, so I was trying very hard to memorize all of the dance moves within a week of joining the company
I couldn't sleep while memorizing all of the dance moves at first, because I didn't have a separate dance lesson, but I managed to prepare all of the routines for the album songs anyway, it was really fun despite it being hard work.
For now, the routine of the 1st album double title song "Hug Me" is the best. The choreography is so cute and lovely, so I hope you guys can follow it!
