As most K-drama fans know Seoul is a usual setting for romantic K-dramas and for a good reason too! Let's see where some of the hot spots are for cute-themed dates around Seoul. Pictures and videos included!
1. ART THEME
For artsy couples take a walk along Ihwa’s Mural Village. Located in Jongno-gu, the artworks are the perfect sight for a peaceful and chill day. With a coffee or tea in hand, you can take aesthetic pictures of the art there and also visit cafes with a magical sunset view. If you are not fond of walking up a lot of stairs (though there is an easier route) the cafes may not be the place for you and if you go on a hot day be sure to take an umbrella! For a picturesque view of Seoul, I would recommend 10/10. Click here for the Ihwa Mural Village location.
2. SPORTS/COMPETITION THEME
So you might be like me and get a little bit competitive when the occasion calls for it. This one is for competitive friends/couples. Perhaps a bike ride along the Han or visiting a batting cage. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get a "little" bit competitive at these locations, but it’s still a lot of fun! I would recommend a sunset ride along the Han for a more K-drama experience. Click here for the location of the Yeouido Han River biking location.
Baseball batting cage. (Yes, that's me.) Video source: Gabriella
3. PATISSERIE THEME
For lovers of the patisserie, I would recommend Onion Bakery or for a more Korean-style bakery, Pine Bakery. Sit inside a beautifully traditional and also modern style Hanok house while eating a delicious icing sugar-topped pastry at Onion bakery or walk along a calm, gentle food street while trying a more traditional Korean style pastry. Mugwort rice bread FTW. Click here for the Onion Anguk location and for Solbangul Bakery.
4. EMOTIONAL K-DRAMA THEME
For K-drama lovers and if you’re feeling a little emotional/dramatic, remember the red tents our main characters cry and drink at? These are called 'pojangmacha' 포장마차 and the featured pictures are from the 포장마차 street at Jongno-3. The food is delicious, and the mood is, anything you are feeling that night, a crisp glass of soju, you write your own scene here. Click here for the location of the Jongno-3 stalls alley.
5. OLD HONG KONG MOVIE THEME
Last but not least to feel like you’re in old-town Korea or Hong Kong just like the old movies (1960s) be sure to try lamb skewers and spicy hot noodle soup with a Tsing Tao at Chwihyang in Gyeongridan or check out 'Eventually' in Sangsu which also sometimes have live performances. Click here for the location of Chwihyang and Eventually (Eventually is a NAVER location).
Well, that concludes my list! There are many more places around Seoul but these are just a few of my favorites! Where are your favorite places to go on a date or hang out? Comment below I'd love to know!
