Synopsis
The Bok family is quite different than your average family (hence the title). Bok Gwi Ju (Jang Ki Yong My Roommate Is A Gumiho 2021) can travel back in time, but only during his happy moments. He loses his superpower due to his depression from losing his wife in a car accident. His family also loses their superpowers due to insomnia, bulimia, and smartphone addiction.
The Bok family has a twist in fate as one day, an ordinary woman, Do Da Hee (Chun Woo Hee Delightfully Deceitful 2023) saves Bok Gwi Ju from drowning one day and her family claims her as their "savior", hoping to get their powers back.
With an interesting twist in your typical normal superhero family drama, The Atypical Family explores themes of redemption and "comebackism", but in reverse order. Will Do Da Hee be able to help the Bok family return to their normal selves? Also, in return, will she ever find a person who truly loves her despite her two previous divorces?
Soo Hyun (Gyeongseong Creature 2023-2024), also stars in this drama with the serious topic of bulimia and how a typical Korean woman "should look". She definitely looks a lot different from her usual roles and this is definitely something to watch out for!
The Atypical Family airs every Saturday and Sunday at 22:30 on JTBC.
