BTS member Kim Tae-hyung, widely known as V, is set to embark on a new chapter of his life as he prepares to enlist in the mandatory military service of South Korea. Amidst a flurry of reports speculating on the enlistment dates and special units chosen by the BTS members, the spotlight currently shines on V, who has decided to join the Special Task Force of the Army's Capital Defense Command.
On December 5, V, along with fellow BTS members RM, Jimin, and Jungkook, interacted with fans through a live session on Weverse, just days before their scheduled enlistment.
During the live session, the quartet urged their devoted fanbase, known as ARMY, not to visit their military service sites. This request was reiterated several times, emphasizing the importance of respecting their privacy during this period.
During the live session, V unveiled his shortest haircut to date, which made him appear noticeably younger. Explaining the reason behind the haircut, he mentioned that he had not shaved it completely as he still had some prior commitments to fulfill.
On November 26, V posted an Instagram Story featuring a photo of the hair in ground showing that he's getting a new haircut, without any specific caption.

This had left fans puzzled at the time, but after the live session, it became clear that V had been preparing himself for his military service.
V, also known by his real name Kim Tae-hyung, has chosen to join the Special Task Force of the Army's Capital Defense Command, commonly referred to as the Special Duty Team (SDT). This decision has garnered significant interest and admiration from fans and the media alike.
The SDT is a military police unit specializing in anti-terrorism operations, initial response to violent crimes, special operations, VIP protection, and mobile strikes in urban areas.
Members of this elite unit undergo rigorous training in combat techniques, explosives handling, sniper training, and various other skills even before officially joining.
V successfully passed the highly selective recruitment process, which involved document screenings, interviews, and physical fitness evaluations. The Army Specialist Recruitment Plan for September 2023 confirmed that V was selected into the unit on October 26.
It turned out to be the same unit that his friend, actor Park Hyung Sik, was also in SDT and was trained in the same area.
