Following an emergency press conference with HYBE, NewJeans issued their fans a heartfelt message. We have all the sudden details on their contract termination with HYBE subsidiary ADOR.
For some, November 29, 2024, will mark a sad day for Bunnies (the official fandom of NewJeans) as NewJeans members shared heartfelt messages with their fans following a sudden news conference on November 28, 2024, expressing that they are terminating their exclusive contract with ADOR.
So what is the latest?
During a press conference on November 28, 2024, the group revealed their intention to continue their journey alongside former CEO of ADOR Min Hee Jin. When reporters asked the group about the usual requirement for a mutual termination of contracts, NewJeans stated that the breach of contract by HYBE and ADOR, and their lack of response had led to the contract termination without the need for further consent. Their next moves are going to be closely watched as they are set to embark on their new venture.
So what are the heartfelt messages by the members?
Minji wrote, “Bunnies (official fandom name), you worked hard today. This is just the beginning for us. Even if we can’t meet on Phoning anymore, don’t worry—we’ll find a way to come back soon.”
Hyein said, “Starting tomorrow, we might not be able to come to Phoning. Please don’t worry—we’ll find a way to communicate. Let’s continue overcoming tough times together, Bunnies.”
Hanni added, “We’ve done everything we could. Think of this as a short break. When we return, we’ll surprise you all again.”
Danielle and Haerin also expressed their gratitude and love for fans, saying, “Bunnies, thank you and we love you,” and “We’re truly grateful,” respectively.
Did HYBE respond?
In a response from ADOR, they rebutted the claim from NewJeans, and stated “ADOR has not violated the contract. Simply claiming that trust has been broken does not constitute valid grounds for termination. The exclusive contract remains valid.”
Based on this, we can foresee their being an on-going very public legal battle between the former ADOR CEO, Min Hee Jin, NewJeans and ADOR/HYBE. This however, has been going on in the public eye for months, and could it be that NewJeans are too impressionable, and Min Hee Jin is using her power and influence over the girl group in order to achieve her own goals?
