Blackpink's Jennie Shines at Cannes Film Festival Debut as Actress in "The Idol"

Jennie of Blackpink made her acting debut on Monday (May 22) at the Cannes Film Festival, marking another significant development in her K-pop career!

Jennie's debut as an actor was at the red carpet event in Cannes, France. Her first acting role was in the HBO drama series The Idol, which had its festival debut with two episodes broadcast at the out-of-competition gala. She visited the festival to celebrate this achievement. The Idol explores the complicated relationship between an aspiring female pop singer and a self-help guru/cult leader as it follows her journey in the LA music scene. The character Jennie, her actual name is Jennie Kim, has a supporting part in the show. The series is scheduled to premiere in June.

Jennie radiated classic Hollywood glitz on the Cannes red carpet in a Chanel gown, which was accentuated by a black satin bow in her hair. The Weeknd, Lily-Rose Depp, and Troye Sivan were among the other cast members that accompanied her at the occasion. Jennie took in the festivities at The Idol after-party after walking the red carpet.

Jennie is now on a world tour with Blackpink despite her acting obligations. She took a flight from Macau, where the group had played on May 20–21, to the festival after their appearance in Cannes. The following Blackpink performances are slated to occur this weekend in Bangkok, Thailand.

Jennie's attendance at the Cannes Film Festival is a testament to her career diversification outside of music and her burgeoning impact in the entertainment sector. Fans are eagerly awaiting her acting debut in "The Idol," while still continuing to support her as a member of Blackpink.
