Happy New Year! Every year many people vow to change themselves for the better! This month we focus on self-love and inner peace. Here are five K-dramas that portray self-love in no order of importance!
True beauty
This movie centers on a girl, Ju Kyung (Mun Ka Young), who used to cover her face in make up with the perception that she was ugly. She was never confident in her own skin and was always bullied in school. Her friend, Soo Ho (Cha Eun Woo), who also has a hurtful past, helps each other to build their confidence.
It's Okay Not to Be Okay
We see how a psychiatric ward worker, Moon Kang Tae (Kim Soo Hyun), and a children's book writer Ko Moon Young (Seo Ye Ji) who struggles with a personality disorder end up in a peculiar relationship. The two end up in love and accept each other with their flaws.
Start-Up
This is a drama full of self-love and positive energy! Centered on a young girl Seo Dal Mi (Bae Suzy) who used to receive letters from her pen-pal, Han Ji Pyeong (Kim Sun Ho) since she was little. Regardless of her poor background, she aspires to be successful in life. Seo Dal Mi grows up to be an aspiring start-up owner. She participates in a 77start-up program where she reconnects with her pen pal.
Extraordinary Attorney Woo
What better way to talk about self-love than this drama about a brilliant autistic woman, Woo Young Woo (Park Eun Bin) who is extraordinary in her studies but still has to push herself to be the best regardless of her condition. She then finds love and friendship on her journey working for one of the top law firms in Korea. We absolutely love the energy and positive vibes she brings to every episode!
My Mister
Lee Ji An (IU), a young woman in her 20s, supports her grandmother and is heavily in debt. Park Dong Hun (Lee Sun Kyun) is a man in his 40s whose wife is having an affair with the senior executive at the construction company where he works. The two join hands to overcome the difficulties of their situations.
All the K-dramas we have introduced have self-love and inner peace at their core. It is what motivates and enhances your outer beauty! Let's remember to take care of ourselves outside as much as we take care of our inner selves! Buy that skincare product, buy that shoe, take yourself out, go out with friends or take that trip you've been longing to take.
